5 Must haves in your hospital bag
Being a new mum I recently experienced the task of packing a hospital bag when about to have a baby. Key word here being ‘bag’ and not bags! But by the time I was finished packing I had prepared a mini suitcase, a large holdall bag and a back pack!! Yes that’s right…. 3 bags! And not one was small.
All I could think was ‘OMG the hospital are going to think I’m moving in,’ but I genuinely thought I needed everything that I had packed. I certainly didn’t.
To help mums to be out I have picked my 5 must haves for your hospital bag, So here goes …..
- Hair bands – Let’s face it ladies you’re gonna get hot and sweaty and the last thing you want is your hair in your face.
- Flannel – This one follows on from being hot, when you’re getting all hot and bothered it feels great to place a cold flannel on your forehead.
- Cooling mist/hand held fan – If you haven’t gotten the hint from number 1 and 2 believe me you’re going to get HOT! Having my husband spray cooling mist towards me was heaven even if it was just for a few seconds at a time.
- Maternity pads – Even if you are one lucky lady and have light periods, you are still going to bleed quite a bit after giving birth and it’s going to keep on coming! You will be surprised how many times you will need to change your pad and when in the hospital they do not tend to supply these for you. So make sure you have at least a pack with you.
- Snacks – With the average labour lasting around 8 hours you’re probably going to get a little bit hungry so it’s a good idea to make sure you have some quick and easy snacks to hand.
