Can I go back to work now? – Norfolk and Suffolk Newborn Photographer

So I think I may actually be starting to lose it now. Rewind to March last year when we had the first covid lockdown, I think most people were happy with having a little break and enjoying some time off of work. The sun was out, we had extra time to spend with our families and it was all very fresh.

Fast forward to now, around 10 months later and I think I’m actually starting to go a little insane. We are now in our third ‘lockdown’ and I don’t actually want anymore time off! I miss taking photos, I miss cuddling babies and I REALLY miss any form of routine. Waking up each day and not knowing how I’m going to fill the day with a 2 year old is exhausting! I know I shouldn’t moan and I know I should just be thankful that we are all safe and healthy (which I am), But I’m sure you can all relate with this feeling of every day is the same and it’s becoming mentally draining.

I think the weather makes it harder and also the fact we don’t have any idea how long this is going to last. I have always been a planner and like to know what I am doing and when. So not having a reopening date and not being able to reschedule the shoots I have had to postpone causes me extreme anxiety. I wish I had a date I could tell my clients, I wish I could get organised and I so badly wish life would go back to normal. I salute all the parents who are home schooling their children, especially when they have more than one that are at different learning ages. It must be really hard.

What are you going to do tomorrow you ask? … I have no idea.

Over the last couple of days I have needed to get my photography fix and therefore have been practising using my new camera with dolls. Yes, dolls. If my daughter knew that I still have them, I’m sure hell would break loose, but I won’t tell her just yet. I have ordered some nice new props during lockdown ( in the hopes of a return to the studio soon), so it was nice to see how they photographed.

Meet Baby Matilda 🙂 She was such a good sport and even stayed completely still while awake.

I literally can not wait until I can return to the studio with real life babies. It’s all super clean and ready to go!

In the mean time, please send fun activity ideas for a 2 year old my way.

Stay safe, Jamie xoxo
