Children’s Lockdown Birthday Ideas – Photography Suffolk and Norfolk

I can’t quite believe it, but my daughter Boe is turning 3 next month! I literally do feel like I’ve only just given birth to her and taken her home. Time honestly does fly at what seems like the speed of lighting and it’s actually very scary.

With the current measures that are in place for Covid-19, it is looking very likely that her birthday will fall in lockdown and therefore I’m trying to come up with ideas of what I can do to at least make it some what a special day and different to the rest. I’m actually finding it rather difficult, so set out to see what a few other people have already done during lockdown birthdays.

Marie Sampson says “I’m hiring a hot tub for my daughters 13th.” This is a super cool idea for a teenager but not something I can really do for a toddler turning 3. Maybe I will do this for my own birthday 🙂

One of my fellow photographer friends Leanne says “I’m making my own teepee tent for mine to have a sleepover party in! Just gonna do a balloon Garland and take her for ice cream on her birthday and cake etc.” – Another awesome idea for an older child.

Rachel Malcolm ( a family member of mine) actually set up a fun fair in her living room which I thought was awesome. She created home made game tokens, cooked hot dogs and made candy floss too!

Leanna Manners says she’s doing an indoor picnic for her daughters 5th birthday this year “I’m getting the cake and food from Vera G’s Cakes and Teas, so I don’t need to stress about making it all. I will also get unicorn themed balloons, blanket, plates/napkins etc.

During a previous lockdown Katie Marie says “Evie had a princess zoom party which was actually really lovely. Cake for breakfast and some random party games with a pinata.”

Tabitha Nicholls also gave a great idea “My niece had a big screen and projector hired for 24hours. It was like being at the movies with clapboard, cushions and popcorn holders. Looked really cool.”

I’m still not sure what to do for Boe’s birthday, maybe order afternoon tea. If anyone has anymore ideas, especially those that may be suitable for a 3 year old, please send them my way 🙂

Of course I will still be doing a birthday photo shoot for her and this year I have decided to use one of my new birthday backdrops 🙂 ( by Graceland Designs) I’m going for gold and have ordered a beautiful, handmade, gold sequin outfit for her to wear (High peak Designs).  I’ve even ordered a giant number 3! Whether she will actually stand next to it is a different story, but as long as I get one good shot I will be happy 🙂 And hey! I will actually have a new photo to share we you all!

As I’m going for a gold themed photo shoot, I will probably keep the theme within the house and get some gold decorations to decorate 🙂 Any more ideas you can think of, please send them my way.

Jamie xoxo
